Everyone wants a cleaner house, but like most things, it's easier said than done... So instead of overwhelming you with everything you need to do or just telling you to get over it and do it, we're going to focus on some small steps you can take to ensure that your house gets clean and stays clean!
Keeping A House Clean Is Easier Than Cleaning A House
We know that you've probably heard this advice your whole life, but that's because it’s true. It really is so much easier to pick up a room on a daily basis rather than to put it off for weeks and devote a whole day, or more, to cleaning it.
It’s also better for your mental health. You can either address the few issues that arise daily and enjoy the benefits of a clean home all year round, or you can live in a cluttered mess straight out of the show Hoarders and stress about all the cleaning you need to do on a near constant basis… The choice is yours.
A quick tip to help this is to assign everything in your house its own home. At the end of the day, simply return everything to where it goes. If you come across something that you can't put up, then think real hard about if it's something you really need to hang on to. That leads us right into the next step.
The Virtues Of Minimalism
It’s not rocket science, more stuff means more stuff to pick up and clean. How many of us have couches and chairs that no one sits on and just collect junk? How much junk do we have strewn around the house? (I’m looking at you pile of books) Take a good hard look around your house and see what clutter you have that you might not use or need. Would you be happier in the long run if you just got rid of it? … Maybe.
Now, don’t obsess over giving away all of your earthly possessions, but it can help you keep an easier to clean (and cleaner looking) space. It’s also pretty good for your mental well being. Give it a shot and don’t be afraid to start small. Perhaps you can finally toss out those old magazines you were getting around to reading.
Also, the nicer your floors and furniture are, the more benefits you get out of this minimalist look. So if your floors need an update then head on over to our store at and take a look.
If you can't make it, fake it
Okay, so you're a little behind, no biggie! Everyone has those days, weeks, or even years that don’t go right. We know that life gets in the way, but it's important to not lose track of your goals for a clean house and to try and minimize the mess as you can. If you can’t clean your whole house then instead just clean your kitchen, or living room. If you have guests coming over, clean the guest bathroom, even if it means it looks nicer than yours for the time being. Be honest with your own limits and desires and do the best you can. However, don’t just shove those dirty plates underneath the dog bed.
None of these steps will make will magically make cleaning fun or easy, but think about how much easier it will be to keep your house cleaner after. So don't beat yourself up if you have a messy house. Instead, put these steps into practice and in no time you too can have a flawless looking home.
